Day 13 – Obedience to the Instruction of God’s Word

Day 13 – Obedience to the Instruction of God’s Word – Contributed by Deaconess Gwen Harris Gale

Meditative Thought: How do we show obedience to the instruction of God’s Word?

Scriptures References:

Using a sermon by Pastor Ken Lee as a guide about living a life worthy of the call of God, he talked about how we must obey God’s commandments and remain in His love.  (John 15 ) tells us that “I am so loved by Jesus, so live in His love and the way to do that is to be obedient.”

Rev. Lee gives us seven examples on how to be obedient to God’s Word:

  1. Trust that God is good, He has a plan for us and He knows what is best for us.
  2. 2.     Be concerned with today and let God lead you on what to do with tomorrow (Matt 6:34).
  3. God’s grace is sufficient. Just agree to be obedient and do what He tells you to do.
  4. Accept that God loves you more than you know.
  5. Being obedient is how you love God and He will provide all that you need day after day. Keep in mind that His mercies are new every morning (Lam 3:22).
  6. Being obedient does not mean that you agree with everything that the Word instructs you.
  7. Forget about being afraid and worrying about things that you have no control over. Just know that He is with you and be faithful in your journey.

Lord Hear Our Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father and maker of all creation, I praise You for showing me Your will as I strive to be obedient to Your Word. I know that it is not easy but I ask for Your continued guidance as I grow stronger in Your Word. You are an amazing God and I continually praise You for the blessings that You have given me.

Now Father, as we enter a new era, I lift Rev. Dr. Darryl Roberts up to You as he prepares to lead this great House of Zion.  Bless him and his family as they join the Nineteenth Street Baptist Church Family. Give him what he needs to take us to another level that will glorify Your name even more.  I close this prayer in the precious name of Jesus the Christ, Amen
