Day 17 – Peace in the Body of Believers
Day 17 – Peace in the Body of Believers - Contributed by Deacon Oddie Stevens
Meditative Thought: How good and pleasant it is when God’s People Live Together in Unity!
In Christ, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all others. Romans 12:5
“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” Romans 15:5-6)
God calls his people to live in unity with one another, so it is important to make every effort to live together in harmony with other fellow believers. I Corinthians 1:10
13) Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14) And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. 15)As members of one body you were called to peace. Colossians 3:13-15
Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, compassionate and humble
1 Peter 3:8
Lord Hear Our Prayer for:
Heavenly Father, watch over this Shepherd you have sent to us. Keep him safe and spiritually lifted always. Help him realize Father that we the members of this church are constantly in prayer for him and constantly in prayer for each other. We pray in unity and you answered our call. Help us pour out our love for him so there will be no doubt that he is loved, wanted and appreciated. We commit ourselves to build a Christian community with heart and fueled by love. Lord help us to remain enthusiastic as we daily practice loving and peace in the image of your son, renewed by the fire of your love. The scripture (I Corinthian1:10) remind us that God calls His people to live unity with one another. We each belong to Christ and because we belong to Christ, we all belong to one another. Eternal God, grant us your presence. Grant us our continued prayer for unity and peace within the community and the body of Christ, your church. We thank you for your presence among us; strengthening and encouraging us on our way. Keep us aware of your presence in our lives and enable us to respond to your promptings in all that we do. Make us truly one, living together in peace and harmony. In Jesus name, we pray; Amen
