Day 34 – Stewardship: Giving Back to God What is Rightfully His

Day 34 – Stewardship: Giving Back to God What is Rightfully His, Contributed by Deacon Harrison Lightfoot

Meditative Thought: Managing God’s financial resources of tithes and offering.

Scripture References:

10)“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house. And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of Hosts, If I will not open for you the window of Heaven, And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. 11) “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field, ”Says the Lord of hosts; 12) “And all nations will call you blessed, For you will be a delightful land,” Says the Lord of Hosts.                                                                           Malachi 3: 10-12

Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.                                                       1 Corinthians 4:1-2

“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.”                          1 Corinthians 16: 9-10

Lord Hear Our Prayer :

Dear Heavenly Father, we know the earth is Yours and all it contains; the world, and those who dwell in it. You have founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.  I am so grateful and readily admit it before the world that You are one of great wealth and power. Father, you have created us in your very own image and have given us the task of managing your wonderful properties of this bountiful earth.  Father, we pray that Pastor Roberts will lead us to greater understanding of our stewardship. We pray that our stewardship will grow with understanding that You are the Creator of all things, Owner of all things, and Giver of all things. When we are given much, Father, we know that we must glorify you with thankful hearts in all that we do and say. Giving you the honor and the glory helps me to appreciate my family and all that you have given me as your servant for life has been rich for me and I bow in humble submission to your will.  Father, create in us clean hearts about what is rightfully yours because we owe it all to you. You have asked us to be co-managers with you here on this earth; co-managers of Your temple and how it should be cared for.  We know that you will never require anything from us that we cannot accomplish. Help us to be mindful of those who do not have.  Give us grace to continue to help others in our benevolence ministry here on the Board of Deacons and by way of all of our ministries that serve our community.  With a humble and thankful heart I pray this prayer in the mighty name of Your Son Jesus, Amen.
