Day 38 – Go Ye Therefore: Work of Missions, Contributed by Deacon Johnnieque B. Love for Deaconess Margaret Corbin
Meditative Thought: I can be used by God to bring love and hope to someone in need today.
19) “Go ye therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20) teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen Matthew 28: 19-20
19) Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.”20) When He said this, He showed them His hands, and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21) So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you!” As the Father has sent me, I also send you. 22) And when He said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit.” John 20: 19-22
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
Lord Hear Our Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, You are mighty and worthy of praise from all creation. You have told us to go forth and tell all nations about your WORD, Your Love and Your great power. We know that our mission is not just one day, it is every day. We frequently think of only the “Great Commission” as given by Jesus in the book of Matthew as our command to go and tell others. But we know that Your word is from everlasting to everlasting. Your prophets of old have told us from one move to another, and from one Sabbath to another; all flush shall come to worship before You. (Isaiah 66: 23) Father, Your dominion and glory is an everlasting dominion which shall not pass away. In Your Name, we, Your sons and daughters have a powerful work to do! Help us to learn from the work of Jesus and the Apostle Paul of their mission work. They were fervent in their teachings and in their work for YOU, suffering death on the cross and imprisonment. Help us to do mission work in our homes, our cities, country and the world. Heavenly Father, We thank You for the Ministry of our Missionary Society and our Global Missions Ministry here in Nineteenth Street Baptist Church. Father, we thank you for their daunting and heart felt work. Keep us mindful that there is still much work to be done for Your Kingdom building here on earth. These blessings we pray, Amen, Amen, and Amen.
