Day 2 – Lord Hear Our Prayer of Confession, Contributed by Deaconess Patricia Kilby-Robb
Meditative Thought: I must ask God for Forgiveness of my Sins
“O Lord, God of Heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant of love with those who love Him and obey His commands, let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel, I confess the sins of we Israelites, including myself and my father’s house, have committed against you.” Nehemiah 1:5-6
7) But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His son cleanseth us from all sins. 9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from unrighteousness. I John 1:7 & 9
Lord Hear our Prayer of Confession:
O Lord, our God, in total submission, we acknowledge and confess our past sins of omission and commission as a church body. Forgive us for the ways we have offended you and your people knowingly and unknowingly. Forgive us for the ways in which we have forsaken our first love and have missed the mark and fallen short for praising, worshipping, praying without ceasing, fellowshipping with one another, and studying thy Word. With the confession of our sins, we call upon your Holy name for your grace and mercy to direct our Church in the ways of righteousness and truth. With the confessions of our sins, we ask you to cleanse each member of the congregation to wipe away the sins of hurting others, demonstrating unloving and cold behavior, betraying confidences, gossiping, and spitefully using others. We ask you to cleanse us from the sins of envy, hatred, resentment, lack of forgiveness, jealousy, and standing in critical judgement of others. We call upon your Holy name to fill each church member with the fruit of the Spirit, to live in the Spirit, and walk in the Spirit with love, joy, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, and faith. Now Heavenly Father with the confession of our sins, we ask in the matchless name of your son Jesus Christ for Christian maturity to do what is wholly acceptable unto you: magnifying your Holy name and edifying your people. Bless us with a renewed Spirit to do thy Holy will today, forever, and ever. Amen
