Day 8 – Praying for God’s Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding, Contributed by Deacon Jesse McCrae

Meditative Thought:  What shall I desire of the Lord that is more valuable than silver or fine gold?

Scripture References:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding:  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.                                       Proverbs 3: 5-6

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One  is understanding.                                                                                                                          Proverbs 9: 10

If anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all liberally without reproach and it will be given unto him. …                                                                                                          James 1: 5-8

2) That their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, 3) In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.                         Colossians 2: 2-3

Lord Hear Our Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, we are asking for and thanking You for granting us heavenly wisdom, knowledge, and understanding so that we may learn to seek and find You, to love and obey you, and think of all things being at the disposal of Your wisdom.  Scripture tells us that by wisdom God, You founded the earth and by knowledge you established the heavens.  Because of Your word God, we pray that in all our doubts and fears, You would strengthen our hearts with the knowledge of Your love for us, and enlighten our minds that we may understand Your will for us.

We pray, O God, that Your wisdom will help us in remembering to ask what You would have us to do and when, what to say and how, so that it will guide us in helping others and in making better life choices, and that by Your light, we may see light, and in following Your straight path, we may not stumble.    Heavenly Father, we thank You for sending us Jesus Christ, who at all times represents Your power and wisdom.  Amen.
